Hope you enjoy it mate. If so, you should read my book. All the best stories are in there.

Send me the link and I'll buy it, mate!

I'm sure it's great, but may I venture to say that I doubt it's on display at Worcester Waterstones.

https://www.olddogbooks.net/shop/olddogbooks/gangsters-geezers-and-mods/

It’s on sale in Carnaby Street and I’ve got another one in Waterstones…

https://www.waterstones.com/book/king-city/stephen-pennell/9780750996280

Done

If it's shit, I expect my money back  ;)

You’re a star mate, but you haven’t bought the ‘‘moody geezers’ one.

Pm me your address and I’ll send you a freebie.

You put the time and effort into researching, compiling and writing it. No way am I accepting a freebie.

I bought this and read it in 3 sessions whilst in Corfu a year or so again - would definitely endorse as a great read

All three of his books are fantastic, but King City contains a fantastic charcater with movie star looks and a heart of gold.

Re Nev's point about people hearing your accent and almost the first thing they ask is are you Blues or Villa?

When I had shoulder surgery earlier this year, when I was taken into the ante-room to be prepped, after speaking to me one of the surgeons asked 'was I from Birmingham?' I said I was and the next question was am I Villa or Blues?  He's Irish and told me his brother lived in Kings Heath.  I never found out if either of them had any particular allegiance because at that point the anesthetist put me under.

His first one was like that.

I've often felt sorry for Glory Hunters, they miss out on so much, in particular that feeling of a connection, of local pride, working and living alongside your deadly rivals.

It's pity for me and thankful in a way too.  I guess it's hard work being semi-detached from your city to the extent that you need to support a team from another because they are more often than not successful. This is understandable in children as they haven't or don't see sense till 10 or 11 to develop the connection.  The thankful bit is that if they continue in their pursuit down the glory path they are more often than not friendless where they live and even if they have acquaintances there is always a hint of suspicion about them which means thankful again that their personalities/thoughts/ideas etc have no bearing on you.

This is why good parenting is so important.

Late to the party I know, but 3 days in and I still have a Ready Brek glow on thinking about Sunday (I got the darkening skies courtesy of GMT after the game bit right). I was convinced they'd do us, by hook or by crook, yet again, until the final whistle went, then I permitted myself to celebrate while my heart-rate went back to normal!

I'd love us to do it again tomorrow at theirs, but with all those London clubs going out, the media will still want one of their pets to prevail, so I see a dodgy VAR incident like the FA Cup last season.  :'(

They can’t rely on VAR tonight. It isn’t in use in this round of matches.

Rory, you miss my point. I think you’d really enjoy the other one (Gangsters, Geezers & Mods) and that’s the one I was making you aware of. As you’ve been good enough to shell out for King City, please allow me to send you a copy of the former. Think of it as a special offer.

Fuck you, Percy. I've already bought it 😉

I'm a fellow writer, and I know how much the written word has been devalued in recent years. You should not have to give away hundreds of hours of work.

It's an honour to pay for it.

Just don't ever beat me up if you see me down VP 😉

No chance mate, now you’ve said all that I’m gonna chin all the bastards who’ve had free ones.

Looking forward to reading it, mate.
