Jonathan Wilson being the usually snarky ****** he is in the Guardian, I see:

Quote
Emery?s domination of the Europa League has paradoxically given him a reputation of not quite being of the highest tier, but if Aston Villa can find a way of winning games beyond Morgan Rogers thrashing long-range efforts into the top corner, he has a great opportunity to impose himself

What is wrong with this arsehole?

Woeful journalism. He'd be up Emery's arse if he was at somewhere like Man Utd.

I?m struggling to see why that makes him a c-word.

We have plenty of ways of scoring goals beyond that, hence why we finished 4th, won a trophy and briefly competed for the title; all owing to what is categorically the best manager in the league and with Pep gone it is not even close.

Wilson has the unnecessary condescending snide representative of a failing organisation.

We scored 91 goals last season, Rogers scored 14 of them and not all of them were long-range. That suggests we do have other ways of doing things.

He?s long been a bellend where the Villa are concerned. Strikes me as a boring ******.

I don?t think it?s Villa specific. He puts snarky remarks into most of his pieces. It?s odd because he has a great, extensive, knowledge of football and he didn?t used to write like this. It?s like he?s doing it for effect or he?s unconsciously got caught up in a trope.

Wilson has been dialling it in for years but he hates Man United. He had a weekly missive on them at one point during the OGS/CR7/EtH/Amorim. A fine writer at his best, his book on Clough is superb. Less so his effort on the Charlton brothers.

I'm generally on your side in these debates, but on this occasion will concede. Wilson has always been a condescending star-fucking arsehole with a smug attitude towards anything that happens outside London and the North West.

He's a Sunderland fan.

But rather than see it as as encouragement for his mob that someone outside of the more fashionable clubs can compete, he resorts to those sort of sly digs.

I genuinely don?t recognise any of the accusations aimed at him! It?s almost like I?m the weird one.

Biased against or towards what though? He?s not a supporter of a ?big 6 club?. He?s snarky about other teams too. I get not liking his tone, he?s lost his way a bit in recent years, but the arguments of it being specifically biased against Villa just feels a bit thin skinned.
