...I think we are going to see fully re-energised, revitalised Unai next season.

One up side of a large turnover, is the number of players new to Emery's style (meetings, intensity, etc etc) ... which may also help keep enthusiasm levels fresh for existing players as well.

My impression of Emery is that he thrives when there's a challenge to overcome. The risk was going into a new season demotivated because all his favourite players have left - but it may turn out to be the opposite... The 'challenge' is how to integrate a whole pile of very talented new players into a cohesive tactical system.

Is it an entirely new adventure for Unai?

Where else in his career has he undertaken squad building on this scale? How did it pan out?

I don’t know about player turnover, but if Emery gets to November it will be the longest he’s ever been at a club.

Very impressive use of selective facts towards the end there. Mentioning the three players that got injured before the slump, but only providing the stats for one of them (the one that's left) in terms of points with and without. I'm pretty sure Bouba had the highest points per game in the league last season, for example (he definitely did at one point).

I actually thought Tielemans was poor when he returned from injury - he always seemed to take a bit longer to get back to speed than others. McGinn, though, dragged us over the line when he came back (with Ollie).

I think we'll see a lot of pieces like this in the coming months, which will intensify if we don't hit the ground running. There's a narrative there for people that don't want to put much thought into what they write. Deadlines need to be hit!

Unai’s chuffed with the new lad apparently. Don’t recall him commenting on Harvey’s signing.

Apparently we have 'out performed'. For three and a half seasons.
