Unai loves the Villa and the Villa love him 😎

Absolutely. I said back when he joined us he was hurt by the way Arsenal and idiots treated him and he wants to be loved.

He knows full well how much we love him at Villa Park and he also has the full backing of our ambitious owners. He's a happy chappy.

The boss speaks - translated. Look at around 21.12. The podcast is called Despejados

By the by, but it's fucking insane how quickly the AI is evolving to be able to dub that (and almost totally accurately, as far as I could pick up) in something like real time.

Had a work event on Tuesday presenting loads of AI stuff, both that we're doing and that is coming from companies we work with. Some of the realtime translation, transcription and summarisation stuff that's emerging right now is incredible, even a year ago the tech was miles away from being good enough and now it just works.

The more worrying (if you're so inclined) parts are around assessments, we saw from a school that put in all of the digital tests they gave their students for the last few years and got it to predict final grades and it was scary how accurate they were, within 1-2 marks for almost everyone, more than 5 marks out for 3 kids out of 800ish.

I was at SXSW in London and some of the stuff people are doing is really smart.  Two additional takeaways I got were that its humans / organisations ability to adjust will be the limiter.  But Also - we have a huge trust problem - no believes anything they are told unless they agree with it.

True dat, and there's a Mega Data Centre coming close  to most of us pretty soon to consume our water and electricity.

On the plus side, I can generate a perfect guitar tone within seconds; no need for amp setttings and pesky pedals and effects.

So 5 of the so called big 6 have changed their manager in recent times and Unai is still at Villa
The way I believe it works is agents send out feelers to see what the possibility of players and managers coming to clubs are. they only make a move if there’s a good possibility from the feedback.
You can’t tell me none of those clubs haven’t approached Unai’s people In fact I would say they all have.

The reason he’s still at Villa is because he didn’t want to leave. That’s why there’s been no real formal approach from any of them because they knew there was no chance of getting him

If Unai Emery was gonna drop everything and move to Man United or Man city or Chelsea he’d already be there
There’s absolutely no way any of those teams would take Carrick Maresca or Rosenior as was over Emery, no way they would appoint those guys instead of him if they thought they had any chance

So he’s with us for a while longer yet

That's cheating.

I don’t believe that ;)

I think its good there are trust issues. In my line of work we’ve had reports of AI being used to monitor teachers delivering lessons, then feedback to their leadership on performance around whatever metrics. Its part of my job to see the problems in this approach for the actual teachers, but surely there are concerns with the direction of travel here with any kind of work.

Unai Emery has insisted that he is happy at Aston Villa, stating that he feels valued while leading the club’s ambitious project.

Villa ended their 30-year wait for a trophy last month by beating Freiburg 3–0 in the Europa League final, with Emery securing his fifth title in the competition.

Under his stewardship, Villa have accumulated the fourth-highest number of Premier League points over a three-and-a-half-year period. The club has also reached a Conference League semi-final, an FA Cup semi-final, and a Champions League quarter-final during his tenure.

Winning silverware was the final objective for Emery, but he has no intention of stopping after lifting the Europa League trophy in Istanbul.

“We want to win - every match, every competition. We’re going to play the Super Cup against PSG, and we want to win it, so we’ll prepare for that,” he said in an interview with Despejados.

“My process as a coach is always about understanding the level of each team and identifying how far we can go - what our limit is, and how to break through it.

“At Lorca, we were promoted to the second division. At Almería, we reached the first division. At Valencia, competing against Real Madrid and Barcelona with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo was very difficult, but we finished third for three years and gained European experience.

“At Sevilla, I learned to love the Europa League. That passion and ambition became part of me. At Villarreal, it was already a strong club with a winning mentality, but it needed a few more steps. We won the Europa League and reached the Champions League semi-finals against Liverpool, which was something extraordinary.

“At Arsenal, a club that has grown enormously over the last 25 years, we reached the Europa League final in 2019 but lost to Chelsea. Recently, they reached another final and lost again, so that’s still a challenge for them.

“Aston Villa has a European Cup from 1982 and now a Europa League title. Our goal is to keep competing and winning. I don’t know if we’ll be able to match teams like Arsenal over a full season, but this year in December we were only two or three points behind them. What we lacked was more capacity and depth to sustain that level.”

Emery remains under contract at Villa until 2029, having signed a five-year extension in 2024 after guiding the club to their first Champions League qualification under his leadership.

“I have a personal rule: I want to feel valued where I am, because that’s where people know you best,” he explained. “I’ve been lucky that most clubs I’ve worked at have valued me and respected my work. That’s the most important thing.

“At Aston Villa, we’re improving and evolving. I feel recognised professionally, and every year I want to keep improving. My goal is to enjoy my work like I did 22 years ago - every training session, every match preparation, every game, even in defeat.

“Europe has been very important in my career. Since 2008, I’ve played in Europe for 18 consecutive years. The Europa League gave me great recognition, and I’m very happy with that. Now, the Champions League is the new challenge.”
