I know that Unai will want European football and he’s aware of the spending constraints we have. None of us know what our room for manoeuvre will be re transfers albeit I expect a lot of players are leaving. It’s really down to that imo. A go at the title is possible I guess but we’re going to need to manage games better when we get injuries, which we will.

Yeah I remember him after we beat them at VP in November. Interviewer asked what happened and he replied, they’re a champions league team - they may not be in it this year but the premier league is hard - but we didn’t do enough. Or something.

Our brilliant end to the season coincided with Lindelof playing in midfield.

We were being talked about as title challengers at one stage of the season but then had an awful run which coincided with the injuries to McGinn, Kamara and Tielemans.

It’s a shame Unai either hadn’t worked out Lindelof could play in the midfield or preferred not to use him during those couple of months when we were bereft of midfielders.

In the end, I don’t think it made much difference, but i do wonder why he wasn’t played there much earlier.

When I suggested he play there before the Forest game it got disparaged.

To me it seemed that a huge part of our system was winning duels to allow the one touch passing etc and to raise tempo. He proved perfect for that. Better than Onana IMO.

Why on this earth is Unai not in the top 6 for manager of the year??? What he’s achieved this season with the limited resources available to him far exceeds what any of the others have done. Just incredible in my opinion

When I brought it up no-one was particularly 'disparaging' so I doubt it was that bad.

I think the successful end of season Lindelof experiment may be the beginning of a slight tactical change from Unai for next season. Also with the far more direct distribution from the keeper I suspect that a change might be coming.
