I would be more worried about Atlético than Real.  I really can't imagine Unai moving to that RM chaos with Perez and all those egos in the dressing room for a 6-month stint and then the sack.

Since quite early on I have thought that this could be emerys chance to build a club in his image - and to stay here for 10 years plus and become remembered as one of the greatest managers of all time.  In a real way - not like Pep playing the whole thing on easy mode.

It would be amazing if thats what unai choses - but one way or another I trust our owners to sort it.  There not daft - and I wouldnt be surprised (assuming we get CL one way or the other) if they throw all the money at him for a new contract.

From a fans perspective the club may seem a bit tone deaf at times, but in terms of progress they havent had too many missteps.

I'd say that's right. He gives the vibe of a man who'd prefer to knock some cnut off their perch rather than keep a well-oiled machine ticking over. We're the closest to that in England but we're miles away. Atleti are right there and Simeone has surely done enough there.

Would he follow Diego Simeone at Atletí who's been there forever and a day after he'd followed Arsene Wenger at Arsenal after he'd been there forever and a day?

Could he make the same mistake twice?

I heard Balague on the radio on Thursday before the 2nd leg and he emphatically said to forget any rumours about Atletico and Real Madrid as Unai was staying put. I guess he would have more grounds to be in the know than most.

You've got to follow someone, as Bob Dylan said when he was rubbish.

I wonder whether he meant Simeone after all when he was rubbish?

I mean they posted it on youtube earlier, that's my post just above that now looks blank. But they've now pulled it.
Aye I know, for some reason they do things different with the youtube side of things. Like the pitch side vid on the OS is twice as long as the youtube vid.

To be fair, he would be the correct choice if you're judging expectation vs achievement

This is an excellent development for gods-fearing anti-jinxers.

Putting Carrick ahead of Unai is a f**cking insult. Whoever called this should be ashamed.
