I think he's going in the summer, he isn't himself and the team needs a massive overhaul and i doubt he fancies it.

There are better jobs available, if he stays there is a very real risk we fall off a cliff if the rebuild goes wrong and tarnish his memory.

Win a cup, get us in the CL again and I think he will see it as job done.

It wouldn't surprise me if he went this summer, especially if he delivers Champions League football again and even more so if we win the Europa League.  I just think that he's had to work at 100% intensity since he got here just to get us to where we ate and that probably has taken a toll.

His stock would be very high with those two achievements and we need a bit of rebuild, which comes with it's own risks especially if there isn't going to be a big budget available.  There could also be the Champions League hangovers to factor in again, so maybe he might just think that it might be time to move on.

On the contrary, it might also be the case that he sees himself at Villa Park for the long run and is relishing another cracking at the Champions League.

Disagree with all this speculation.  Unai has the keys and he’s up there with the highest paid managers in the league, and he knows he has the full backing of very rich owners.  I agree that he’s going through stages with the highest paid press last season to the playing through the middle this season, and I’m intrigued to see what he comes up with next season if he has a bit of flexibility to get the players he wants.

Can’t help feeling JJ would have been a great help to us right now

What's he ever done here or at Newcastle to make you think that?

He was superb in the run-in during Emery's first season.  Got injured on England duty that summer and not been the same since sadly.

He’s been linked with Real Madrid again today.  Great timing.

Not a chance in the world. He's the exact opposite of what Madrid want. Klopp and Mourinho are the two names strongly linked. Klopp is waiting for the Germany job and happy to sit it out at Salsburg doing office work until the job if offered to him; Mourinho will probably be allowed to leave Benfica and he's Perez's preferred Head Coach.

Managing Madrid is more about massaging egos than sitting the players down for a 2 hour post match/pre-match analysis. The players would probably get up and walk out.

Aye, doesn't seem an obvious fit.

If he was offered it mind, I'd say he'd be off.

Was Newcastle's best player away at PSG and Chelsea this year. Still has plenty of ability.

JJ or Sancho, Bailey, Guessand? Think I’d have preferred a place in the side rather than these three.

Only if he's looking to retire with a golden handshake. The self entitled Madridistas would be stocking up on white handkerchiefs faster than you could say 'Que caigan las bombas sobre Hondarribia.' * They'd have him out before the end of the season. I couldn't see them giving him more than a two year contract.

*Unai's home town of Hondarribia was shelled and bombed by Franco in 1936, forcing the population to flee into France. I'm not sure Unai would want to manage Franco's white shirts.

He wishes 😂 Not a chance

Yeah, it's just Forest fans like Chris Sutton, Darren Fletcher, Su Pollard, and Mark Goldbridge getting their media mates to unsettle him in the lead-up to the Thursday's game.

Has he not said on record his ultimate goal is Real or Barca.

Quote
The head coach was asked about his decision to leave Villarreal for Aston Villa given the initial backlash that followed in Spain, and replied: “It is natural. We all have to look for competitive challenges.

“I have been fortunate to be in three clubs in Spain behind the highest level: Valencia, Sevilla and Villarreal. From that gratitude, then the next step in Spain would be to train Atlético, Madrid and Barça… Breaking that barrier is very difficult.

Yeah, that's not the same as "come and get me, Real".

Just want to say that IF Villa get past Forest on Thursday it will, in my opinion, be one of his best achievements since he has been here as we are absolutely rock bottom at the moment!

I suspect the point is if there was no way he would take the Real job because of local history and politics, then he wouldn't have listed them specifically as his potential dream jobs/aims (If he did.)

He nearly took the Newcastle job. I suspect he's not too interested in the politics.

Why did he back out there? Stevie G too from memory. Eddie Howes stock was pretty low at the time post Bournemouth's relegation from memory.
