Selling JJ who was desperate to stay at Villa put some noses out at the seasons start. Emery in his after match finally i believe is ready to make changes, he looked worried as i've never seen him before.

Start by trying something different. I don’t mean that to be churlish, but it’s been evident for weeks that with the players we do have the current approach doesn’t suit.

I'm still furious at the Chelsea capitulation, and the Wolves loss.  I'm also left wondering how can we possibly turn this around to ensure we get the CL football next season that looked so likely a month ago.

But I also remember feeling this way in mid-September, when we'd had a terrible opening month of the season, with just three points and a solitary goal to our opening 5 league games.  I was left wondering, 'has Unai lost it'?

Then Unai took us on one of the best runs in the club's history.

If our form doesn't improve, and we end the season having looked like a lower-mid table side from Feb onwards, then sure, questions will need to be asked.  But for now, I'm going to continue treating this like nothing more than a blip, and believe that Unai can string a few results together and get us back on track.

If you'd have told me after the draw with Sunderland at the end of Sept, to ignore the table, and we'll be in 4th with a decent shot at Champions League football as we enter March, I'd have snapped your hand off.

We're in a tough period, but we're still IN the fight.  This isn't over yet.

Nothing is going to change, Emery will just continue doing the same thing until we get the injured players back when it might start working again. Emery would have changed it by now if he was going too as it has been obvious for some time that it needs changing and he hasn’t so I don’t expect him to change it any time soon.

It would be a start if he stopped picking Bailey, Buendia and Watkins.  Barkley, Abraham and throw Alyson in please. The only issue with that though, is their replacements, which are Bogarde, Watkins and Sancho/bailey.  Basically, we lack the agility to change whilst we have SJM and Tielemans out of the side.

It’s more about balance and shape - if you swap them out and try and play exactly the same way we’ll struggle. Bailey and Buendia should not be starting, especially not at the same time.

I asked Damian Vidagany how Unai managed to turn our early-season struggles around. He said that Unai simply doubled down on his hard work—if that was even possible. But he did. Unai truly believes in his methods and that sticking to them, and doing even more of the same rather than changing course, will eventually bring results.

We might not all agree with that approach and everyone will have their own opinion, but I genuinely believe he can turn things around again. He certainly deserves our patience, considering we wouldn’t be anywhere near where we are today without him.
