It's easy to rate a manager on trophies won, but if you consider regular European qualification as a measure of success Unai is unprecedented at our club, and on a far lower net spend than any of our competitors. Like Graham Taylor, if Unai ultimately never lifts a trophy with Villa he is still up there as one of our greatest managers ever.

I don’t need him to win a trophy to be classed as one of the best. Sherwood could have won the FA Cup but he’d still never be as good as Unai.

I’d like a trophy though, please.

Surely the real hero was Nas who took control of the club, sacked the Charlatan Gerrard and single handedly appointed Unai.
Then once we got him on board handed him the keys and unequivocally backed him.

I wonder where we would be in he last 3 years without the financial shackles we have.

There are quite a few significant sliding doors moments in our recent history, from losing to Fulham in the play-off final, to the Sheff Utd goal that never was, but I think one of the most significant moments didn't even involve us at the time.

Unai saying no to the Geordies, leaving him free to say yes to us a year later, is perhaps the second biggest sliding doors moment of all.

He's the best. With the conditions as they are in football today, so stacked against us, what he's doing is nothing short of a miracle.

He’s the best for me, no argument. Needs a trophy and it’s statue time.

And Villa drawing Middleboro in the FA Cup so that Unai got a close-up of Morgan Rogers was a 'sliding doors' moment.

I think the owners role can not be underestimated.  Over the last 5 / 6 years we have transformed from the perennial sleeping gaints.  They have done so much right, and from day one they have installed a sense of believe and unwavering ambition.
