Unai's presser is at 1pm. Let's see what he says.
Why can't we watch this stuff live? The local press' tepid questions really fearsome enough to be embargoed? Honey, please.

Because it has been delayed until 2pm.

I thought they were live in paid for VTV. The BBC live text is the one where they usually lump him at the end of the round-ups about 2 hours after he has finished.

Unai’s position remains strong according to the latest BBC article.

Unai’s position should be strong - a fair few have short memories of where we were when he took over

The guy has done an unbelievable job for our club -and I hope that he will continue to be our Manager for many more seasons.

That’s a far more researched article than anything else I’ve seen this week.

Right Unai your position has been reaffirmed, probably was always solid, but it’s very obvious externally now. It’s time to get the team now playing like an absolute drain.

Emery is still the main man and so he should be. The new guy dovetails in perfectly with the existing structure and is already a known entity with Emery.

[Back up plan: Iraola can be plonked in without ripping up the structure if the malaise continues]

Only three different spellings of Olabe, Olab or Olambe....

Well, yes ...
Olabe's name is spelt three different ways in the article. Also the writer implies that Coutinho was an Emery purchase.
There's also a snide comment about our transfer balance (£400m in sales, but almost half accounted for by 2 players ...).

According to some sources he’s on his way, to a ‘top premier league club’, the article then goes on to mention Manchester United so make of that what you will.

Is it? Seem to have trouble getting the guy’s name right!

Quote

Then off the field, president of football operations Monchi left and was replaced by Roberto Olab.

Yet Emery remains unbowed and focused even if Olabe's appointment suggests a shift in thinking at Villa Park.

Emery had a big say in Olambe's appointment, showing his position is strengthened. He has a strong hold on decisions at the club and that has not changed with Monchi's exit

Edit: just noticed Drummond said the same thing a few posts earlier. Oops.

Any article that supports Emery supporting the appointment is a great article.  Any that say the club is in turmoil and this was a shock and WW3 is about to start as a result isn't.

Marco Asensio was loaned to us by Real Madrid it seems, but Rashford didn't pay-off apparently even though he set up most of Asensio's goals. More ammo to Drummonds bias complaint about BBC sport.
