Pretty sure £100+ million to sb spent by a CL team should get you more than the contributions of Onana Maatsen and Malen.
Same amount that Liverpool paid for Darwin Nunez. There’s no guarantees that any transfer works out (and I’m not sure I agree on Maatsen anyway, he’d be our first choice left back now had Digne not had a massive upsurge in form).

You did watch Maatsen at Old Trafford?

The whole team was shit that day.

You keep saying Maatsen is crap, but he was very good the tail end of last season.

Everyone was awful then though. You could flip that and say what about Newcastle at home a few weeks before, where he was brilliant. Unais Villa has always looked more dynamic with the left back bombing on. Digne being the professional he is has meant, its been limited time for Maatsen, but time to give him a run, at least starting more games, to be replaced by Digne later on, ala the Morena/Digne dynamic from 2023.

Maatsen was particularly crap and pushed Cash for crap of the match.

If Maatsen is so good why isn’t Emery picking him ?

He was shite v Palace too.

But I would give him a decent run in the team now. Digne looks done on the evidence of this season so far.

I’m not sure, I’d have picked him at the semi-final and for most games going forward. I guess we’re lucky to have two very capable left backs. You obviously don’t like, many of us do so I wouldn’t put him as a flop yet.

To be honest, Rogers form is far more worrying for me. He’s a very special player but so far off the pace. Our offensive game has vanished, Emery mentioned it yesterday so it’s down to the boss to sort this.

Looking at the bigger picture, teams had started working us out at the start of 2024. Our domestic form was average for the whole of the calendar year and only picked up when asensio and rashford turned up.

We need to adapt and quick. Unless we are aiming to do a spurs.

Anyone know who this bell end is? Comparing us to Lambert’s Villa. Fuck me. We’ve just come off a CL campaign. Not circling the drain to relegation year after year.

This Fanalysis thing seems to have selected supporters with the biggest social media followings to cross promote. Not worth bothering with!

I haven't been impressed by Onana, Maatsen or Malen's input but there's clearly something to work with on all three.

I don't pay enough attention to other clubs but imagine that it might be par for the course across most PL clubs that they have £100m worth of underused/under-performing talent?

We still should have enough within the squad for enough players to be in good form at the same time to get us winning games.
