Yeah but it’s not just us they do this too. They do it to sides who know what they are doing too.

I think we have quite a sensitive and emotional group. Like when Mings got injured at Newcastle and they were affected, and then were pissed because Ramsey had to be sold they are pissed off and sad  because of Martinez. Emery will sort them, reset and push on again.

He really needs this window over now.

Whatever will be will be but this window and some players attitudes whilst it’s been open have killed us.

My concern is that he relies on having players run themselves into the ground then replacing them with brilliant subs. Look how he always takes McGinn off, for instance. Trouble is, we no longer have brilliant subs. We've gone from a gold plated bench with diamond studs, to a moth-eaten one found in a skip round the back of Matalan. He's a squad manager who no longer has a squad.

Still, this is his first real lean patch at Villa, and it isn't like he doesn’t have incredible amounts of credit in the bank.

Hopefully the international break does them all a bit of good and Unai gets them firing again starting at Everton.

We haven’t scored a goal yet, just let that sink. To differing levels perhaps, but everyone involved in anything to do with the football should be pretty bloody embarrassed with what they’ve produced this season.

I miss the high line

I miss the early goals

I miss the flowing football

I miss the feeling that we were going to beat teams in the first half

I miss the momentum this entire club seemed to have.

This is quite sad. What has happened

We put out pretty much all our revenue on wages.

We spent 5% more of our revenue than the ar Italy line allows and now it consumes the club, its staff, players and supporters. Its distracting with its corrosive influence.

He’s lost his touch.  In my opinion.

Big fat Sam's claret and blue army.

He's too busy playing with cucumbers for Uber Eats.

A pundit on a pre-season preview podcast said it always goes wrong in his fourth season (but that he normally wins the Europa League anyway).

Bit of a weird criticism when most managers don't last that long at a club - ie Unai Emery at Arsenal or Unai Emery at Villareal.

He has had two fourth seasons in his managerial career.

Valencia, 2011/12: finished third, same as the previous two seasons. Made Europa League Semi-Finals, the furthest he ever got in a cup competition with them.

Sevilla, 2015/16: finished seventh, two places lower than he had done in both the previous two seasons. Made Copa del Rey Final and won the Europa League for the third straight year.

I mean, it doesn't sound like a catastrophic drop-off, to be honest.

I heard the pod and did think it was a strange comment.
