I am obviously a big Unai supporter. But there is some sort of malaise at the club right now and we need to sort it. The Europa League is a big chance of a trophy if we can just get over ourelves and knuckle down.

My reading of what he says is there will be some wheeling and dealing ahead - no-one really knows exactly who will be here and who wont when the windows slams shut.

I think maybe for the players they are feeling the uncertainity - combined with a bit of self-pity / defeatism / glass-ceiling.  I think once the window closes a lot of work will happen about exactly how were going to set up, rebuilding the confidence etc.

We're still in good hands.  On the pitch we need to see some of our sernior players really stepping up - Emi and Konsa have let us down with sending offs, Kamara is made of glass and we really need to see something from someone to cover some of the cracks until things get more settled.

We are still unbeaten for a year at home, and win the majority of big games at Villa Park. I think our home form will likely be good enough to keep us in contention for Europe, but we desperately need some pace to hurt teams away from home like Diaby and Bailey did if we are going to get back into the Champions League.

It isn’t just the contributions that such players make, but the way they force opponents to leave players back, just in case. Look at how PSG, Tottenham, Newcastle, Man City and Forest and others were able to spend large swathes of their home encounters with us last season camped in our half because they knew we had nothing to hurt them on the break.

We are allowed to criticise him.  Poor set up, ponderous, tippy tappy football, which is without pace or craft.  We urgently need an alternative to Morgan Rogers, to help that lad as much as anything.  Same message peddled out for every news conference.  Yet Unai is still the bests hope we have and needs to be backed.  Get some craft and more pace in sharpish.  I'd like to see both Malen and Guessand in the side but wonder if this means playing three central midfielders as we may not be strong enough defensively.

Unai is at Grealish levels of hope that Rogers will do ‘something’ to win the game…

It’s fine and to be expected to rotate/rest/sub Rogers. I think it would do everyone good.

He’s a great player, with bags of potential, we don’t want to flog him to death though.

Even with the limitations of the squad Unai is not going about it right. Playing with no width is absolutely killing us.

The club haven’t done enough this summer, and Unai isn’t doing enough either.

He needs to stick to coaching the players which he is very good at.  Keep him away from transfer dealings and building a squad because he simply can't be trusted to either of them himself or employ people capable doing it for him.  If he has a strop and walks, so be it.

His errors of judgment are now compounding all of the other problems.
Another selection mess with Mings at RCB and Pau again showing that unless he is protected to the extent that his defensive duties are limited he is a liability.
We have now seen enough to tell us the outlay on Onana and Maatsen has been a waste of money, neither good enough for a team that wants to be pushing for CL places.
He addressed Cash deficiency at RB by playing Konsa there but that has now been abandoned.
The hope that Marlon would step up is diminished by the fact that he seems almost disinterested.
Rogers looks like the adulation has got to him but his form has been a worry for some time now.
Every time he takes Mcginn off, our performances seem to get worse not better.
I have no idea what styke of play we are striving for, all I am seeing is ponderous in defence,  slow and blunt in offence.
It’s obvious that there are serious problems, it looks like we need a major reset.

Lots of conclusions on players that are premature there. I’m really frustrated by how we’ve started the season, and tactically I think Unai has got it wrong, but that doesn’t mean he can’t correct course and also being overly judgemental of players when the system is wrong is risky. The fact that pretty much everyone is struggling is a good indicator it’s about how we’re set up.

Got a horrible feeling next few weeks are make or break for Unai! Transfer market doesn’t seem his forte and we don’t seem to be able to kick a balanced team. Hope he rises to the challenge!

I think Marlon hasn't been that interested since 2010. His passion is now cars.

Squad really looks like it could do with a new character in it. A good footballer obviously (sorry Micah) but somebody with personality. Grealish would have been ideal or the next John Carew. Everybody including Emery seems a bit sorry for their lot.
