I just watched his post-match interview. He didn't scratch his head once; he just gave his chin a quick rub after 21 seconds.

I'm sure someone could do a dissertation on his post-match win-loss body language. Maybe The Academic our regular university research poster?

Nor am I.

I think he'll be here for the foreseeable future though.

By the way, the next managerial appointment is one of the most important in our history and the club should be looking now. I'm not saying replace Unai now I'm saying start the search now and be well prepared.

Germany is a one club country.  The fact that Leverkusen have done so well is an unusual event, just ask that spoilt brat at Manchester City.  I reckon Unai values competition.  He's not going to Bayern, he'd be bored shitless.

I really can't see Unai wanting to be at a club where 2nd place and a CL semi final (at least) are deemed as a reason to bin a manager. He strikes me as wanting an element of underdog rather than it'a gift wrapped and in a pretty bow.

He’s already managed PSG.  they didn’t buy him a whole club in Spain where his dad works (owned?).

We have a manager now who values the build. To achieve success through meticulous attention to detail and improvements at every level. Something he has almost full control over. Bayern churn through managers. He’s not going to want that. Quite honestly, it’s a hell of a compliment when our best players and managers get linked higher up the food chain. It means we are doing really, really well.

Bayern are the same as Chelsea or Man Utd. They want immediate success, and given their history, what is considered success is a much higher bar than what we asked of him.

I think Villa are/were the perfect fit for him. Big club, good history, spine of a decent team to begin with, backed by the owners, and starting from a point where there wasn't a whole lot of pressure to do anything other than improve. And he's gone above and beyond there.

The likes of Bayern wouldn't have any patience for a rebuild, and really they shouldn't need it. It's credit to Alonso and his team that they won this season, but Bayern don't need much doing to be back on top, and they're still in the CL, so I don't see it as much of a challenge.

I think we're the perfect club for Unai, because we are the most beautiful, perfect thing in the world, ever.

Just a brilliant Manager and person, who we are so lucky to have - hopefully he will want to stay with us for many seasons to come.

Succession planning is not something we have been good at in my supporting lifetime too frequently.

Massive job to get right whether it be 6 months or more preferably 6 years.

Dr Jo - BFR
BFR - Brian Little
Bruce - Deano
Gerrard - Emery

Can't think of others where it was planned well and worked well. It was especially dire under Lerner - not sure he had any idea whatsoever.

The Lille guy is impressive
The Bournemouth manager is doing well with limited resources.
The new guy at C.Palace seems to have turned them around, probably looking at W.Ham
