Emery is too good not to figure this out. We’ve had bumps in the road before and we’ve come back stronger.

The loss of Pau for a long period of time has been a massive issue for us.

I'm disappointed in last night, because what we were doing was clearly playing into their game plan, yet we carried on doing it for 90 minutes. For brief periods when we played with a bit of tempo and more direct, we scored and had one disallowed. But then we dropped back to playing patiently again.

For this to happen after a break and with time to prepare and plan isn't up to Unai's high standards, though he doesn't need me to tell him that!

We're in our first really bad patch this season. I am confident that we will turn things around and put some good runs together. The sooner the better!

This is the point where a great Coach earns his money. Arsenal fans were telling me that when your form fades he will struggle, ok now lets see if that is the case.

I look at Emerys record and will take that over what they have now any day of the week. Until very recently he’d done a better job there than anyone. That wasn’t acceptable so they started taking the p**s out of his accent. I’ll not be taking any notice of what they say.

Every manager goes through challenging runs. Emery hasn’t done what he’s done throughout his career by having it easy. It’s one thing waltzing into roles like Pep at the very best and well resourced clubs in the world. Quite another when you take clubs in more challenging circumstances and turning them into trophy winners. I imagine Villarreal or Sevilla fans had doubts at points during Emery’s time but they were rewarded in the end with titles. We need to do the same. The journey so far has been superb but there will be times which will be difficult. Right now is one of those spells but I am confident we will come through it.

Arsenal fans can fuck off too. Entitled bell ends.

One thing he absolutely needs to sort is the left hand side - Moreno was an absolute disaster yesterday, and Tielemans offered nothing down there. It’s crucial the left side works for our attack to work and create space.

The left side is missing Pau Torres and Lucas Digne. The replacements aren’t as good.

Strictly speaking though, Moreno was brought in as first choice.

But then he got injured for ages and probably thrown back in earlier than he expected once Digne got hurt. And Digne has been the more established LB across his career and was a bit out of sorts at the start of Emery’s time. He rightly is the starting LB of the two right now purely on form.

The problem is, the defence got set & used to playing next to their partner.

Konsa next to Torres next to Digne.

With Torres out, then Konsa has to get used to Lenglet & Lenglet has to get used to Moreno.

It's like learning to play together all over again like at the beginning of the season. And last season when our form was shit.

When Torres is back, not sure who he will have to get used to out of Digne & Moreno.

Its doubly fucked at the moment too by the fact that while Lenglet can pass a ball about at the back, especially with the lack of pressure from the opposition, he is basically a tree stump growing in the turf with his lack of pace, so we are susceptible to opposition teams sitting deep, sitting narrow & then just pumping long balls over the top.

He's also benefiting from the golden rule that he didn't play yesterday! Digne was having a solid season for sure and much improved. But Maldini would have struggled playing behind Tielemans last night

It’s a mix of no Pau and Digne.
Teams are super pressing us as we try to play it out from Emi.
Playing Diaby

The last one is the easiest to fix.

Diaby would be a different player with Pau in the team - see the equaliser at Bournemouth.

It's a mixture of Mings, Torres, Moreno, Digne, Ramsey, Tielemans and Buendia being out for varying amounts of time and the replacement combinations not having long to get used to each other before another one gets crocked again.

It's been so hard to get a settled left hand side this season and I don't care what anyone says, that's been quite a list of absences to manage effectively.
