I'd suggest they're giving the audience what they want. I love the Guardian podcast and not only is it unrealistic to expect them to have detailed knowledge on all 20 Premier League teams, I'd also be very bored having listening to them dissect every other team as well as Villa.

There are other podcasts and youtube stuff to get your deeper insight into Villa's tactics.

I'm also a big fan of that podcast, and I agree that I soon wouldn't be if I had to listen to 5 minutes on Southampton's weaknesses from dead ball situations or insight into why Leeds, instead of defending, join arms and shout 'kabaddi kabaddi kabaddi' (actually, I'd quite like that latter one).

It's there for people with a casual interest. As someone with no more than a passing regard for non-Villa football, I think it does its job well. Personally, I find the only thing more boring than hearing about Man City's tactics is chat about VAR/bad refereeing.

There's a confusione going on. Nobody's saying they should change what they do. We're saying they're wrong about us and it's peeving.

Is it?! I hadn't even noticed them being wrong.

In an incredibly minor, insignificant, barely noticeable way.

I don’t agree with a lot of what Gary Neville says in the media. But interesting and positive comments regarding the game at the weekend and Unai Emery.

I agree with him on that and despite everything he is not as myopically biased as Carragher the spit merchant.

For all the braindead pundits saying we're keeping it simple, simple is what you get with Dyche, Bruce, Moyes to an extent. Meat and Potatoes hoofball that has a low ceiling.

What we're delivering, even to my untrained eye, might as well be a different sport. And how many times have we said something along those lines in the past? That the opposition were playing a different game?

It reminds me when I used to play FIFA online & I came up against someone significantly better than me. They always seemed to have extra men in attack all over my box & then when I go to attack them, they the seemed to have extra men all over their backline too. It was like I was playing against 18 players...

Emery is the person I am playing online...

Listened to Carragher last night after the Liverpool game, you thought it was the second coming the way he talked about Liverpool, only last week they were on about a rebuild

Keep thinking about little things from the other day, like how we always seemed to have space in midfield on the half-turn, always seemed to find Moreno in space, what was with that?

After the Yanited win (and he should be canonised for that alone) he was asked what the plan was.

"To play in the gaps."

Now there's prob a fair bit of science/repetition in training to create those gaps in the first place. But even lining up in what looks like a 4-4-2, it's obvious he's varying the attacking focus game by game.

The media have only just noticed that we've won a stack of games and are 6th in the table. It's a bit unfair to expect professionals who talk about football to actually have a clue about how we play and how he's achieved it yet.

Indeed.

It's a bit unfair to expect professionals who talk about football to actually have a clue about how we play and how he's achieved it yet stop talking about Manchester United and Liverpool long enough to notice the other 90 league teams.

Fixed.

We've kept it simple for the last few games. Turn up. Win. Go home.

Lovely to hear that from Neville, obvs about how great VP is (though I do sincerely wish he didn't enjoy his away days there so much), but also about the reputation of Emery at Valencia. It's just a reminder that we in England, and really people outside of Spain, have a fairly distorted impression of him as a coach.
