The other thing to say, when me and others say we were disappointed in the lineup etc and Emery got it wrong it doesn’t translate into writing him off or thinking he should go
I’ve waited years for a foreign manager with a brain I ain’t giving up on him now

Yes, I find that most annoying, as you can probably tell from all the posts I’m posting. I don’t post much about football normally, and I wouldn’t be bothering now if not for people interpreting criticism of one line-up as a wish to sack the manager.

Liverpool,Everton and West Ham changed their entire teams.Brentford probably made the fewest changes and went out at home to Gillingham.
Brighton played on Wednesday and will have had more rest.
The point about finding out about your squad players in match games is important for a new manager and gives them game time if they need to be called on.

By not repeating it, are you acknowledging that resting players with two games to go before a long mid-season break will have no positive or negative influence on their fitness in April?

Also after the total balls up of last night in the set up of the team and people advocating that’s what other teams do or it’s part and parcel of the modern game means that they will accept that rubbish every time we play in the cups and hope we get lucky next time

why don’t we go all out try and win something from the off would be a better policy

I was surprised and pissed off in equal measure when I saw the team. Another wasted opportunity.

I suppose the thought process is giving players game time but that's pretty pointless if you don't get any games afterwards. Start your strongest team and sub players on to get them it if the game warrants it.

Also, he's only been officially able to work with the players for a week and one league game. Would it not have been better for the majority of the recognisable first team to play together before the Brighton match to get as much time getting used to Emery's ideas as possible? That for me would have been a better idea than giving Olsen and Chambers game time. He's only had one game to see what the first team can do, why is he concerning himself with the reserves at this juncture?

I think that's it. He's won a shit load of cups so I think fans expected a slightly more go for it line up.

Maybe Emery just didn’t realise how bad some of our fringe players were? Two weeks ago McGinn wasn’t even a fringe player and other than Olsen he was the worse player on the pitch.

just thinking if he'd have played a full side last night, and had to rest players for Brighton then people would have moaned. The squad lacks real depth.

Why would he have to rest players for Brighton? If we can't play a mid-week game followed by a weekend match how on earth are we going to manage if we ever finally qualify for Europe?

Quite. No reason to rest a load of players whatsoever. They're professional athletes. Last time we played on a Sunday after a Thursday game, we won four-nil.

I expected one of two changes because he said he was going to. Sanson, Kamara for some game time and maybe Augusstinson maybe? It was too many though.

I'm sure there is some truth to this. On paper as a newcomer, starting your captain and an international keeper doesn't seem so crazy. This will definitely have been a wake up call, he can now see where we've been going wrong.

If we don’t win on Sunday are fans going to ask for their money back, a free dinner and an apology from the manager.
