None of that changes if we lose. Our aim should be to do what Newcastle have done in the space of a year and get back to a high level of play and relevance in the space of 9-12 months. We can do it with this manager

I was expecting to turn that off after a couple of minutes - like Steve Bruce, I don't do tactics (but I don't command millions of pounds per year for not doing so) - but it's really enlightening, and a bit exciting (unlike the concept of tactics!)

I really hope people have patience with him.
Like that first season under MON, it was up and down, but you could see there was a plan and the right man was in charge.

Yes I enjoyed that too

I wonder if it is a little blinkered. From my understanding Emery is a guy who looks at specific situations and sets his team out based on those situations and what he has available to get the desired outcome.

I can’t see that he will carbon copy what he’s done at Villarreal in quite the way the presenter implied. Different league, different players, different context. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

At one point he put the whole of our squad onto his virtual pitch and wittered on about us having options. At the end he was waffling on like a Y10 student presenting his General Studies project.

He kept calling Sevilla and Valencia mid-table sides but they're usually top six.

He started off with Buendia and Coutinho behind Watkins, which happened no more than a couple of times. Load of self-important waffle.

Just working my way through El Meistro and it’s worth a read if you have the time.  One interesting fact is that when he was at Valencia he didn’t play the same eleven for 80 consecutive games.  He’s definitely no Ron Saunders!

There was a lot of rubbish in that video but I think he was right with the back 4 becoming a 3 when we're in posession, I can see Chambers getting some games at right back, Emery loaned him out first season but was playing him pretty regularly at Right Back in his 2nd season.

I think/hope he’s exactly what we’ve needed for a long time - a competitive, flexible style of play and a focus on player improvement.

It’s just a shame his first 5 games are so tough.

He* also has a beard, probably goes to franchised barber shops, wears beard oils from a start-up, and wears his jeans like Sunak's trousers.

*The bloke in that video, not Emery.
