Why do we blame Gerrard for this? Lange or, perhaps, owners not wanting the outlay seems more likely.

If the owners/Lange were buying players Gerrard wasn't asking for to go into the first team squad no one would be happy. We didn't sign a striker, or even really look for one, because Gerrard didn't ask for one.

Considering that we have spent plenty, and Gerrard vetoed us spending another twenty million on a winger, that seems very much not likely. Gerrard has had two transfer windows and decided not to sign a striker. Because he's an idiot.
