A fair write-up and echoes what most neutrals said about the game. Just a small typo in "ma(n)y he have many a recurrence".

Spot on
what I would have said on the post match thread if I could type as much
got three points, did not concede
No imagination or game plan going forward, to many under hit/over hit passes . Players tangling with each other instead of moving around
O well maybe a confidence booster.

".... the end of ninety minutes of tedium for neutral TV watchers, not that I care too much about what they think."

Sky and the Prem's joint greed forced us to play on a Friday.
40,000 Villans turned up, but very few Saints fans could either be arsed or stupid enough to trek north.

Not that the Sky viewers gave a shit about either set of fans, so I was quite pleased that Villa and Southampton served up such pile of dross  - it was almost as if they did so to spite Sky.

Now you may find this attitude perverse, but the more crap matches Sky shows then the fewer subscribers they might have and that might just lead to them reducing the amount they pay and stop genuine fans having to watch games 9n Friday, Sundays or Mondays.

I keep getting texts saying was it was the worst game ever. I respond with "it had a goal which a lot of dismal games don't have so how can it be the worst no matter how poor it was."

It's a very resigned tone as the writer sighs-out the final sentence. As he himself has said (paraphrasing), "When are we going to stop being a nearly/maybe team and actually deliver?"

“Scramble the ball over the line”? He smacked a half volley into the roof of the net, no messing!
… is the only bit I disagree with.
