Aston Villa v Southampton Pre Match
« on: September 12, 2022, 10:20:44 PM »
Friday 16 September Kick Off 8PM.
Venue: Villa Park

So football is back on and we take the honour of staging the first English top level match to be played since the big event. I wonder what Steven will do  to ensure Southampton are sent back empty handed?

It's got to be a win otherwise going into the international break we'll have 4 or 5 points from 7 games.
Choose the wrong team and formation and it could be a difficult evening.
Come on Villa boys!

Just...don't be swapping notes between players in the latter stages if we're losing 0-1.

Same team as Man City other than Dendonker for McGinn.

                      Martinez

Young.           Konsa.    Mings.       Digne

                      Kamara.   Dendonker

               Luiz.                    Ramsey

               Bailey.                  Watkins

Might be over cautious but we need to carry on grinding out a few results to carry on steadying the ship until confidence is back. Temptation must be to bring Coutinhio back, but other than McGinn who deserves taking out after the Man City game.

Nervy 2-0 (Watkins and late goal from Ramsey).

Is it definitely on?

Are there enough trucks/cameras/police/hot dog stalls/half and half scarf sellers etc, available for the match to definitely go ahead ?

Apparently so.  Premier League have confirmed as much anyway.

A repeat of last season would be nice.

I remember that game. I was a bit miffed that we didn't score more than we did.

Hopefully we'll take confidence from the Man City game and smash these.

Think it'll be a 2006-07 O'Neil home game type 1-1.

Penalty for us.

Someone I'd never heard of until he scored, for them.
