He was born in Passchendaele.
We actually have a good track record with midfielders whose birthplace was the site of famous historic battles.

Although Drinkwater and Barkley came from Stamford Bridge and they weren't much cop.

The siege of Chadderton? The battle of West Cornforth?

If Kamara is out for a long time, I hope this bloke is up to it.

He is, but he’s quite different to Kamara I’d say. Kamara will also be well above where we are at the moment.

Maybe by reputation but it's not as if Kamara has been particularly great so far.

Early days obviously and he probably needed a season to bed-in. A shame if he's gonna miss a lot of that now.

I think he has been one of our best players.

He has been our best midfielder IMO. The one key position we desperately needed to fill and finally we adequately did the job. It’s all a bit sh@t isn’t it.

Gareth Barry. Although as you all know the Battle was a few miles from Hastings itself.

He's been our best player by quite some distance.

Ah, that’ll be why he looked like he was running through mud when he came on then.

Has he? Midfield has been a major problem for us this season, and he's been an ever-present in it. I know McGinn has been awful but apart from looking pretty comfortable with the ball and recycling it, I haven't noticed anything particularly great about Kamara to date. He's committed too many fouls (understandable as he's getting used to the pace) but I don't think he's the enforcer type many have thought we lack.

Click to expand. Pretty well the stats you'd want from a DM I'd have thought.

Better than I thought then, in fairness. If he's tackling more, he's more likely to foul more which those stats seems to bear out. I hope his interceptions and tackles lead us to retaining possession.
