I like that. For that reason hope he goes abroad so that's also his last game in England. Unless we qualify for Europe/the World Club Cup, which I could live with.

I think it would be good if he went to Man City or Liverpool, just to rub salt into the wound.

That would probably be doing Man U a favour. Chelsea seems the most likely.

Oh I'd very much hope he doesn't get more than five minutes on the pitch. Just enough time to score against Man Utd and do an Adebayor.

It would be very funny if no one went in for him. I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole, he's shown himself up for what he really is this season. Summed up by the watch he wore in a pic he posted today.

That watch is one of the nastiest things I've ever seen. He's working with Jacob and Co, who do diamond encrusted watches for people with far more money than sense or taste. The Ronaldo designed ones have to be seen to be believed, they actually have a picture of him on the front in gold, like a really shit Mickey Mouse. Burn them with fire.

You sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole there, and my god. They look exactly how I imagine a watch worn by Cristiano Ronaldo would look.

Not the same range, I don't think, but look. At. That. 🤮

They'll no doubt sell like hot cakes here!

This is one of them. It looks like something Franklin Mint would sell in the back of The Mail on Sunday, payable in four easy instalments, together with your Princess Kate china plate.

And once you've cleaned the vomit off, presumably you'd pawn it?

I don't understand why people wear watches when phones tell you the time.

Same. I've not worn a watch since the 80s.

Funnily enough, I actually carry a pocket watch that my parents bought me when I was 15. Quite a nice one, by working class standards. I have paid for it to have a lifetime battery replacement & repair guarantee from Timpsons.

So I can absolutely understand the appeal of watches, but when they look like what lizard man is wearing? Christ no.

You could spend hundreds of thousands of a watch, and odds are it actually looks shit and makes you look a twat. And most importantly, you won't get close to feeling as cool as you did when you first had a digital watch with a light.

Actually, the only time you ever had that feeling of being beyond mere mortals again was when you had a pen that had a digital clock on it. Once you had one of those, you could write your own ticket. And know what time it was as you did so.

It was G-Shock for my generation. I could never afford one, along with Rockports or a sovereign ring.

I managed to sneak whiskey into school in an Irn Bru bottle at age 12, but that wasn't 'cool', apparently.

Thankfully I had enough facial hair to be able to buy a pack of fags at 14, which *was* considered 'cool'.
