I can't believe no one involved actually seemed to think that the rugby might mess up the pitch a tad and so plan for that.

Quote
Bristol City recorded a routine win over fellow Championship side Coventry City, who moved the Carabao Cup first-round tie to Burton because of problems with their pitch.

The tie was played at the Pirelli Stadium, about 30 miles from Coventry, with the Coventry Building Society Arena deemed "unsafe" after hosting rugby sevens matches for the Commonwealth Games at the end of July.

In fairness I think they did, it's just that they don't own the stadium and haven't been allowed in to do anything about it. And also the pitch was supposed to have been replaced this summer and hasn't.

They've always had ill-conceived delusions of grandeur.

Watching AZ Alkmaar v Dundee Utd. It's a tangerine nightmare as they have just shipped 5 in 23 first half minutes.

Down to 6 now.  Imagine what we would have been feeling in 1975 away at Royal Antwerp

7-0 now, equalling the worst ever result by a Scottish team in Europe. 15 mins left.

Watching Dundee 1-1 Arbroath, the Smokies have just equalised. Dundee's No. 10 Paul McGowan has a very unfortunate bald patch with a tuft of hair left to grow at the front and at 34 is a candidate for the '(80s) Footballers Ageing Badly' Twitter account.
