In Gaelic football it's referred to as a shemozzle which sounds much more pleasant than brawl.

Saw a great shemozzle at Glebe Farm years ago. Both teams and half the spectstors giving it everything, with the referee and a couple of attending Catholic priests trying and failing to calm things down.

In the end the ref gave a long loud blast on his whistle, announced that the match was abandoned and walked off, leaving the fun and games to carry on without him.

Sounds like a particularly feisty affair but at least the ref wasn't hit. Dad used to play at Glebe Farm for St. Brendan's.

Birmingham GAA FACT : Clare Short's father was the first Chairman of the Warwickshire County Board.

I'd forgotten Russian football existed but Zenit v Sparta looked interesting.

I know it is wrong but at least it was a proper kick off rather than the cheating fuckers who barely touch each others forehead then go down poleaxed (yes we are looking at you, you cheating bellend Mitrovic)

The break hasn't helped Blackburn much, lost 4-1 at home
to Preston.

Why are Sunderland and Albion wearing black armbands?

The children who died, presumably.

Took me a long time to realise it was Sunderland not Sheffield United! Thought they should have had a red in the first half and a penalty awarded against them in the second, so I suppose that's a deserved equaliser.

It's the traditional "just sacked Steve Bruce" bounce.

I think Albion will get themselves into the play offs this season.
