We need to be at them from the start = none of this shite 1st halves then rallying after we give them a goal

Score early and the crowd will smell blood - and quite rightly so. They made us look like mugs last season at home

Honestly, that was one of the best displays I've ever seen from a team against us.

The ridiculous bit about it was we played quite well in the game but they were just utterly ruthless. They absolutely deserved to win and could have had about 6 or 7 but we could have had a hatful ourselves.

Yeah, that was the thing, we weren't bad but they were absolutely relentless.

Yep, could have been a different game entirely if that Grealish effort hadn't been cleared off the line. Also Mings had one of his (thankfully rare these days) games to forget.

To be fair to Mings, Bamford had one of those nights where virtually everything he did ended up in the net. I doubt he’ll be that good again in the whole of his career.

I think this, above all the games we've played so far in Gerrard's reign, will give us a good indication of where Gerrard's Villa are today.  Last season's match was a real low point, where Leeds beat us, but for periods of that game they also put in more effort than we did. We weren't terrible, but we were well beaten.

I for one am really looking forward to seeing what we can do now we're not only matching teams for effort, but often putting in more than they do.  Leeds' biggest advantage is their work-rate, match that and we'll beat them.  I think our quality is better than theirs, so I'm hopeful of a really positive result.

We generally haven't started games well under Gerrard so that needs to be addressed in front of a packed VP. Get into them and we will win. Allow them to take any kind of control, even though they have key players missing leads to a long and frustrating night. We have a lot of talent now and some confident players on the back of some decent results. We need to take full advantage of this stretch of games.
