What a mad signing that was.The MON years. another player who was on huge wages and hardly kicked a ball for usThought he was a weird signing at the time, he was 32/33 years old when he came, so even if he had been a success, he had a very limited shelf life.MON made some bloody peculiar transfers.
Not Shaun Maloney any more.
Whilst reading about Kevin Phillips taking over as manager of seventh-tier South Shields...(see here: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jan/28/kevin-phillips-south-shields-manager-interview-sunderland)...I was surprised to learn that he took over from Graham Fenton! This made me wonder which ex-players are currently trying their hand at management..? And are any of them doing well? (Any future Brian Littles out there?)(And are there any other examples of one ex-Aston Villa player taking over the reigns from another anywhere? I can think of John Gregory replacing Brian Little, who himself replaced Ron Atkinson who was at Villa as a player but never appeared for the first team.)
Watford statement on Tom Cleverly:"Watford FC confirms Tom will be in charge for the match at Coventry City and that the speculation over his position is just that - pure speculation"
