Manzambi is his replacement.

People have been saying that we need to bring down the average age of the squad.

He signed a new deal with us, despite us not being happy with how much he was earning, and it was reported that his new deal was worth less than the original.

Now we know the cost of that - he agreed to lower his wages a little, and we agreed to put in a low release clause so he could go elsewhere if he got a better offer.

Seems logical. He’s been a great servant to us. If he gets to play at PSG for his last contract then I wish him well.

That makes sense, Dog. He could conceivably win a World Cup and Champions League in the next 12 months, which wouldn't be a bad way to finish off one's career.

Yep, I like Lucas. Wish him no ill-will, though plenty of ill-will on PSG's vile owners.

Yeah I wish him well too. A fantastic servant for us.  But right now it feels a bit rough.  We don't get many decent fullbacks through the club and for me, he's probably the best.

At least he'll still be our first world cup winner if he hasn't signed by Sunday.

He’s been brilliant for us. I thought his form had dropped the season before last but he proved me wrong. He’s a very intelligent footballer because he’s a total professional. He’ll eat up Ligue 1 where any drop off in his pace will be barely noticeable.

Great servant. Had his best years. 33 this month and PSG want to pay money for him, that's fine. Maatsen isn't the answer though.

This leaves us short. Who's going to do the 'Another One!' shout after our wins?

Fair play to him. He's beaten off the challenges from Moreno and Maatsen at VP, and fought his way to first choice left back for France at this WC.

Bit gutting we're losing him to a rival.

I really like Digne, but it has repeatedly been mooted in the press (and I tend to agree) that the club can't really afford two high earners at left back. Digne is clearly the better player of our two left backs, but is nearly 33 and is at some point going to go into steep decline. With that in mind I am not that disappointed with the move. Maatsen has been an underwhelming player for us, and I would not be averse to also selling him if we can get a better first choice player in. Then we need a promising understudy from either the academy or elsewhere.

I assume at this point that Illing Jr is not good enough, so he needs selling as well.
