Did they not do that several times last season with other players?

Check out this, Lucas mic'd-up in-game, live at the Bescot v Bilbao. Exudes confidence, personality and multi-lingual ability. Fair play to him for agreeing to it. I hope he never leaves us:

Pravda showing the way in innovation! When was the last time a similar experiment was tried - the ref with a microphone for an Arse v ManYoo match circa '91 when all the swearing and spitting from the players gave the game an 18s classification?

Tielemans was mic'd up in one of the tour games in the US last season.

Tielemans wore a bodycam, so slightly different and gave an even better perspective at just how quick the game is and how little time you have on the ball.

They POV camera & mic'd up Tielemans for a pre season friendly game last year that was pretty insightful.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ghmk_K7vMw8

Shows how fast the game is & how little time there is on the ball.

And that was only a friendly...

They also did a camera one in the US with Rogers - looks mental as all you really see is his arms flailing about

The abridged transcription of Digne's mic stint:

"Time! Come! Talk to 'im JJ! ¡Muy bien Pau! Ref! [SQUEAAAAL!] Touch and go! Muy bien! CALME-TOI !"

Not enough French, sadly. But we've lost Sanson and Lenglet and Diaby.

With Moreno going out on loan and Digne having started the first match it looks likely he’s staying and will be on rotation with Maatsen.
Very interesting that Digne decided to stay when Galatasary came in for him but I think having Luca and Ian are great choices

Did he decide to stay or was the offer not good enough, I wonder? We may have been open to either of them leaving, depending on which deal was best.

'Galatasaray reached an agreement with Lucas Digne and made an official offer to Aston Villa. Cenk Ergun started talks with Monchi’  was the rumour

Digne said  'Sorry but no true’

Digne is superb.

We all thought he was back off to France this time last year. Moreno was instrumental in us getting Conference League football, but Digne/Maatsen is a better, more balanced pairing to have at left-back this season.

Until Moreno got injured i never thought Digne would step up as much as he has. He’s been consistently very good for a long time now. I’m so glad he’s staying.
