Ian Ormondroyd.
He had a banging song though.

Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, Ormondroyd, ORMONDROYD!

Maybe add God, Nilis and JPA to that list
The latter 2 didn't have premier league pedigree and wasn't McGrath before the Prem years or only the first couple?
That was my basis for the list. Recognised names of the premier league and world /european football

Coutinho is of course highly known around the world.
If Suarez comes that would be also high calibre signing

Like the Ronaldo and Cavani moves of Man Utd.

Luc Nilis had more than enough pedigree to play in the Premier League.

He'd have been one of the best strikers in the league for a couple of seasons if it wasn't for the injury, in the handful of games he played he looked a level above anyone else on the pitch.

I believe he was Gregory's first choice to replace D.Yorke when he left. Would have loved to seen that happen. An absolutely fantastic forward.

‘That’ goal against Chelsea. Left Leboeuf for dead. What a touch, what a goal.

That one was a not untypical Nilis strike. Shame we never got to see any of his trademark free kicks fly in.

This signing is huge. No fuss. No drama. No late chancers trying to hijack.

He’s got the pulling power. Looking forward to the summer

Philippe Coutinho's net worth in 2022 is $63m. I think he could afford to take that reported pay cut of 70% !

we've gone from loaning Bolasie to signing Coutinho in the matter of a few years - how can anyone be unhappy with this?

Yep.  It's a brilliant permanent signing for pretty much every reason I can think of: player is ace and has a good few years left, fee is ridiculous value, raises our profile for would-be transfer targets, the player obviously really wants to be here. It shows we mean business as a club too, which for every long suffering Villa fan means good times are coming.  All good.

Tom Carroll

Let’s not even go down the path of Lamberts signings.
