Aston Villa v Chelsea - Pre Match Thread
«

Probably the strangest pre match thread. God knows who will be available for both teams.
We have won our last 3 Boxing Day games.
Chelsea have been affected by covid and are in a bit of a rut so I can see us getting something here. 1-1

2-0 if it goes ahead. Which I doubt.

I wasn't going anyway due to the timing, having to work in the day, mates not bothering, no public transport etc etc but it all seems a bit academic now.
I hope the match is on so I can watch it after work but what sort of teams will be out is anyone's guess so I'm not even going to predict a score safe to say I hope we win.

Might take my boots* with me on Sunday just in case. If so I fancy a 1-1, with me scoring our goal as emergency centre-forward.
*I don't actually own any football boots.

Chelsea will come down with plenty of cases and the game will be off.

Imagine if Guess The Crowd was back for this, there'd be some wildly diverging, sexy guesses....
Anyway, would be happy with the gate we took at home to Chelsea Xmas 1994 and the same result to boot. A 3-0 win, a lifelong Villan scores has first Villa Park goal (Ian Taylor/JJ Ramsey).

I hope they're forced to put out a weakened side, damaging the 'integrity' of the league, and we absolutely funeral them. And Tuchel cries in the post match interview.

Is this game even going ahead?
In the event that it does I'm not expecting much. I never do against teams like these, as they usually come with their own dodgy referee and more recently with dodgy var.
A point or more will be a bonus result.

Gerrard talking about fringe players needing to be called on and that the availability is changing day-by-day. Who knows what side we'll have out but I think the league are taking a harder stance on getting the game on if there are players available, particular considering Gerrard mentioned the Barrow game and players from that day being considered "first teamers".
The show must go on!

If teams get low on players the Managers and coaches should be made to put their boots on and play
That new rule should suit us more than most

The league may consider that if you are in the squad you can play.

Ministers are meeting now in Downing Steet and are said to be considering three options.
These are thought to be Stilton, Wenslydale, and Brie.
