Good article. And I have no doubt that Gerrard won't be as misty-eyed as Houllier. Not a concern - he's convinced me that he's a consummate professional.

Good stuff, particularly the last line regarding refs. Marv gets a booking on Sunday despite being the one fouled, but in any case it was two players squarely challenging for a loose ball, a foul if one gets there before the other yes, but a yellow card too? That is a legitimate tackle, whether you get there first or not. Pulling someone's shirt from behind is never, ever legitimate and should be an instant yellow, yet time and time again it goes unpunished, it's used tactically and the the only people in the ground that don't seem to understand it are the refs.
