There was that season (11-12?)  Stephen effin Ireland won it on the back of "x" least shit performances to garner POTM. I think they changed it back to a vote after that.

What an impact he had today, keeping up the form that’s made him one of our outstanding players this season. I must admit I was a doubter but he’s massively won me over.
