Fuck, there's dust in my eyes!

Just read that out to my 11 year old and actually starting getting choked!
Dean has given us some amazing times as manager, along with Grealish and others, brought us back from the brink. I dunno about anything else but the football we played from August to Jan last season was one of the things that kept me going in the 2nd lockdown.
I do think a change was needed because of number of losses this year, but what an amazing ride its been. I feel really sad about it all, but have huge respect for Deano, huge shoes to fill for the new manager, lets hope their up to it.

I actually had a tear reading that. Thanks Dean, you really did leave this a better club than when you joined.

Hard to find the right words to sum up what the gaffer has done for the club and me personally the last few years. A top coach and an even better guy. Thanks gaffer and good luck! 💜

I worry this has ripped the recently-rediscovered heart out of the club.

He can leave with his head held high. He's left the club in a much better place than where it was when he arrived. Thanks for the memories.

We don't what the future holds for Villa or Dean Smith. May be he will be bringing a team back to VP in the future ? May be we push on, he pushes on and 3, 5, 10 years down the line he returns to us adding to a recently enhanced trophy cabinet.
As the late great Greavsie said "It's  a funny old game".
My fear is  that if West Brom having slipped out of automatic  places continue to move down they may turn to Dean. That would be hard.

In an era of ego and self interest, Dean remains a class act. He understood emotional intelligence and knew how to manage and lead people in order to get the best out of them. Will be fondly remembered.

Sometimes you only hear about what really went on behind the scenes years later. He had to go in my opinion but the leaving of key staff could not have helped him, his whole demeaner seemed to change the last few months even before the bad run of games, he did not seem at all happy. If he wrote a book about the last three years i would be first in the que.

I just hope we're not about to rebuild again.

A lot of our players really like Smith and I can see heads being turned with him gone. McGinn, Watkins, Konsa for starters.

They are professionals playing for a big PL team. Watkins, McGinn, Konsa would be squad fillers at best at the top sides. They have it good with us with lots of room to improve. They’ve all been playing beneath themselves.
