Felt for him a bit yesterday, we didnt get the ball into his feet anywhere near quick enough and gave him far too many punts down the channel to chase, it was like watching a Ferrari try and run on used chip fat.
I noticed that, down the left channel mostly, which is supposed to be Watkins territory; what has happened to Watkins, full of pressing the opposition last season and I barely notice him now?

Watkins looked as sharp as a tack in the pre-season training session I watched. I guess the after affects of the injury mean he's not quite there.

He's played every minute of every match for the last seven weeks. It's not an injury hangover, it's the formation not suiting him and his own poor form.

The chemistry between the two is non existent, it would be interesting to see the stats of how many passes completes to each other.

The amount of times Ings was throwing his arms up after Watkins had taken 12 touches then been dispossessed, or run down a blind alley.

Yes, at one point they zoomed in on Ings's face on the big screens after another poor piece of play from Watkins, and he was shaking his head and puffing his cheeks out. Didn't look happy.

This has to be another reason not to pursue with three at the back every minute of every game. Both players have played successfully with another forward up front so it has to be the system.

I think itís harder for a front two to be as effective at closing down as a front three.

Well, he seems a little slow on to the ball and his first touch is off, he doesn't seem to trust himself, which could be a result of not being quite as fit as he was last year. I dont think we've tried him with Buendia yet (have we?) which worked well at Walsall but would be hard on Ings.

I think we'll see a different side this weekend.

Ollie Iíd playing like heís got feet too big for him. Heís working hard but his reactions and touch is letting him down. It may be confidence, it might be fitness, but he hasnít looked quite right. I think personally itís a number of thingís including the system.

think they need to try either dropping 1 or Ollie out wide

Absolutely not working as a partnership.
Its one or the other for me and right now Ings would be my pick.
Its a tough decision but it has to be made for me.

Ings is pressing far more than he was in earlier games. And he scored again. I like what I've seen of him so far.

If Bailey is fit for Arsenal, I'd play him one side of Ings, and Buendia the other. Ollie on the bench.

Agreed. And I'd bring Watkins on when Bailey or Buendia get tired.

Yep, same here. McGinn, Ramsey and Luiz as the central three.

If Sanson was fit I'd play him ahead of Ramsey. I suspect Cash won't make Friday so 4-3-3 will be the way to go anyway.

Definitely, looks great on paper, maybe if fit, Sansom in for Ramsey. I do like Ramsey a lot, but I'd like to go with some more experience.
