For me and nothing against the man, more towards the twat at Arsenal. But this is a modern day overhyped role in my opinion. Some of the general media and pundits make out no one scored from a corner or freekick before a "set piece coach" was manufactured from nothing. Put the ball in the mixer onto someone's bonce who isn't afraid to smash his face to bits and you'll probably score some goals. I bet David Beckham or Martin Laursen never had a set piece coach in their careers.

Gotta say this one p’d me off seeing it float past on social media.

Maybe there is a shelf life in that we have recycled set pieces a few times and it’s not like it’s impossible to find another innovator (maybe there was a disciple/apprentice?), but there is a “We are Villa and we are not allowed to have nice things” gene that gets tickled in me somewhere :/

But his corners are anti-Arsenal. Instead of putting it in the mix, like Beckham, now with all this commotion and uncertainty of keepers being impeded or not, or if that throwing a man into the box is allowed, at least with some of these technical corners it bypasses these shenanigans and you can score a goal which isn’t going to be ruled out.

It feels like Unai has an opportunity to rebuild an ageing, inherited squad which will also rejuvenate him.
I’m excited about this summer.
