Whenever Bailey moved more central which wasn't often I thought he looked better suited than being stuck out on the wing. Suprised he wasn't used more in the middle.

Bailey was brilliant last season, a joy to watch . Other than that he's been largely crap .
'Brilliant' is hyperbole. He was better than previous seasons, and has - this season - referred to type.
He adds nothing, in the scheme of things.

I'd love to see Leon come on and score today, and get Watkins an assist for his hat-trick.

Wut? An argument for being our best player in a season when we qualified for the Champions League. If that isn't brilliant I don't know where the bar sits.

Yup. It was probably the best single season for a Villa winger since the start of the Premier League. But the sustainability of those performances in the long term is why we should have cashed in last summer.

Where the bar sits is, I suppose, about the definition of brilliance.
Look, I was maybe not being generous enough about Bailey's contribution but I just think that last season is the outlier not the trend.

Yeah, I agree with both of you there. Definitely an outlier and it's time to go. I think he deserves to be remembered positively though, for last season alone. Just a shame he couldn't do it more often, as he clearly has the ability.

He shouldn't be remembered for "last season alone", he was a crucial part of taking us from relegation battle to Europe the season before, too.

Off to Roma? In talks about loan with a buy obligation.

I’ll always love Leon. For his opener against Everton, then that season he was one of most exciting players in the world for a while.

He seems a great fella and a shame he can’t find those dancing feet. If he goes good luck to him and I really hope he finds that happy place again. Just as long as it’s not one of our rivals!

In form Bailey is a joy to watch but that hasn't happened enough for him to be with keeping is we have a decent offer.

He is the exact opposite of Buendia despite them both being prone to a sulk. When little Emi is having a bad day he works too hard, runs himself into the ground and makes mistakes. Leon instead slows down, stops pressing and hides.

I think he'll do ok in Italy though so if it is a loan to buy I hope we don't sell ourselves short on the fee.

Obligation to buy deals suit us. Dont need the money now. Gets wages off for SCR now and then money in down the line

For Europe we could do with the 15-20mil in the removal barrel to allow the 4-5mil each costs of Malen, Evann and maybe Asensio*

*as he was already on it but his costs would have gone up I'm not sure he will count or not.

How much would a loan fee be? Enzo's is £3m isn't it, you'd imagine at least £5m for a season of Leon.

The season Bailey had his mate Diaby here, he was unplayable.
Such a shame it was a flash in the pan, he’s obviously got the ability but something seems to have held him back.
