You need to offload the dead weight when the opportunity arises, otherwise you become Man United. Bailey has been shocking this season. I don't know what's gone on with him, but if an offer comes in, with Malen there and McGinn able to play it, bite their hands off.

Exactly - he was incredible last year, I would not be overly hasty. Having said that there are plenty of people who think Pau is hopeless, Watkins isn’t up to much so there’s clearly a fair divergence of opinion.

He played through the pain barrier last season.

But unfortunately seems to have reverted to type this campaign.

Just a loan with no obligation to buy I'd tell them to trap.

But they're honestly such a badly run dysfunctional club we might get north of £40 million for him even after this shocker of a season.

There were a couple of us saying in the summer though that it was exactly the right time to cash in on him.

I must admit I was ready to sell him the summer before last. Emery seems to ignite every player when he arrived except Bailey. However his form kicked in around October last year and he looked like the best winger on the planet.

In that period he was such a joy to watch. Exciting, powerful, fast, clinical and quite the maverick. He seemed to burn out towards the end carrying multiple injuries.

It was always a big risk to expect him to be at those levels again this season, with Jayden as the backup.  Similar with Rogers.  Fortunately Rogers risk has paid off but bailey hasnt and its really hurt us.  I 100% think he benefited from not having to play when he wasnt in form

Maybe, but that leave only one natural winger other than Ramsey? After letting Carlos go before Bade was agreed we wouldn’t do this again, unless Felix is incoming, I can’t see it happening.

Felix isn’t a winger imo. Asensio has played most of his football on the RW so my guess is it’s like-for-like Bailey for Asensio.

You see that’s when I realise my knowledge of footballers outside of Villa is terrible. I thought Asensio was more a ten and Felix a winger.

I must admit, I do pine for those glorious games when Bailer was flying but I’m beginning to wonder if it will happen again. A crying shame if he never reaches those heights again.
