Yes but having full-backs on both flank capable of "doing a Moreno" means we have better choice and keep the opposition guessing (i.e play Digne/AN other on the left playing more conservatively and on the other side, a right-full back version of Moreno).

I'd be surprised if he doesn't get another 12 months, he just seems like a very good option to have in the squad.

Yeah, that was my thinking too - make it so that you could mirror the current Young/Moreno combo on the right hand side - then you pick which one based on whether the opponent is weakest on their right or left flank.  Plus, with the 5 subs now potentially you could do a double fullback substitution and swap the wing you're targeting mid-game.

We'll be up against more and more sides playing a low block against us and the Wolves game showed how much we struggled to create chances. It would be good to have an attacking full-back on both sides in those situations.

Although in some games he may want to switch things and have the attacking full-back on the right and a more defensive full-back on the left.

If nothing else he's exactly what you'd want on the bench to bring on and see a game out, wind up the opposition or to get in the referee's ear.

It makes sense to keep him even if we buy a top class right back.

He can cover multiple positions, and if we're in Europe, he would be a good, experienced option/rotation player.

When Liverpool click it's often because of their two attacking wingbacks. However, we shouldn't be relying on a 37-year-old player as our first choice.

Whatever the likelihood of playing or not, and I guess that depends on who we sign in his position, he's a great utility option to have but is also a proven winner and, I imagine, a dressing room leader.

I've just been back to the early 30 page numbers on this thread, when his last contract expired and he was a year younger. I'd say the general tone is more affable now than it was then. Myself included.
