I honestly thought it was a dfensive subsitution to help Targett to ensure we don't lose the game. But Potter gave it to us by taking Lamptey off and Ash crucified them.

My mantra since he came back has been "why" but he made the difference this afternoon - I put plenty of salt on my words when I ate them.....

Still no idea as to why we signed him. Ok today but even a blind squirrel finds the odd nut.

I don’t think he was doing anything until AEG came on and he dropped into midfield, then the dribble that set up Watkins was excellent.

Our very own Ashley Young is involved in the radio 5 programme this evening Inter vs Liverpool.
He'll be talking again once the match has finished.
He's great to listen to, talks so well and we should hear more Villa and from 10pm to 1030pm. Young is a future coach or pundit!

There was some chat about Milner and he said he was privileged to have played with him at Villa and England and that he himself watches his diet and has learnt as he like Milner gets older how to look after himself as well as learning from older pros throughout his career about how to listen and understand your body and what works for you
He intimated he passing that advice on himself but also didn't get the impression there was nothing more than healthy respect between Milner and Young like certainly didn't  say he was a great mate or even a mate
Just pros that played together. (Didn't say that just one can tell)

Though they are very different they both have forged a career of high calibre and when asked how you and Milner able to still go on Youngy talked about how he has done all the right things on his training and diet to maintain and continue at high standard.
Said incredible of Milner to make 800 appearances and all that cliche that's testament to him stuff.

Rest of the stuff was all about Liverpool strong squad and a couple of Inter players Alexis and Barrella who he commented on

He didn't mention Villa at anytime was talked to like he was retired rather than a curent Premier league.
Oh when the assists and creativity of the Liverpool full backs was discussed I did think he may mention  oh that's what we're doing with Gerrard but no he was talking Liverpool in the main.

Cheers. Strange/rude to have him on and not have a bit of Villa chat considering that's who he plays for.

Good to see Young in a solid state today and came on and did his bit. That's exactly the kind of performance want from Ash Young to see through the clean sheet and the 3 points. SG clearly has him as a go to and very much involved however maybe now it's best he's used in the Elmo capacity of the 10 minutes of matches

Great to see Young offered a new contract.
He's been part of our wins this season so clearly his experience has told as Opta statistics show the top three players by win percentage in each team in the Premier League and the interesting stat has Young at the top for Villa.
Has the highest victory percentage when he's on the pitch and in the team our win percentage is 43%. Thats higher than any other player.

McGinn and Ings are the other to form the top 3 both over 40%.

Well I still blame him for the Watford defeat at VP. He lost his man and didn't have the height to make-up for it.

He had an even bigger role in the Wolves away defeat.

But overall, I'd be happy for him to sign an extension.

Yet has the highest win percentage
He has been off it at times but then seems to redeem himself.
It's the off pitch and in training as well as competitive winning spirit he brings
Certainly can do a 10 min role in a 5 substitution format but keeping him on I think very much part of the bringing up the mindset of the squad. One more season as a squad member and maybe a coaching role if he wants that route
