Great to see Ash come on and he's started to settle down as the half wore on and was close to creating a goal if not for a clearance by Rice
Need that experience in the team without Mings

I think you're on your own, mate. He should be nowhere near the team at present.

Well I have to revise that statement I made as he was particularly poor.
Should have closed down Rice for his goal
And for the last didn't have the pace or effort to get back to close down Fornals because he slowed down after Martinez made a save and didn't rest quick enough.
It's fractions but Young today especially in defence looked shirt of the mark and pains me to say it.
Would have been more akin to him being subbed rather than Buendia.
He does have the experience of course but is seemingly a bit slow to react to things.

The biggest thing is that, even if he was 28 and at the height of his ability he still wasn't a central midfielder and still would've struggled against a very strong pairing in Rice and Soucek.

Could understand the intention of the signing when we did it but just looks a mistake now.

We saw after Brentford he shouldn't be playing central midfield at all. Was bad enough him on at left wing on opening day.

Wing back or a sub for last 10 minutes of matches.
Has to pay an Elmo role now
Back up to the full backs

Can’t take out any anger on Ash. Not tracking Fornals on the rebound was tough but it’s not his fault he was thrust into a position that didn’t suit him or the team today.

You can’t expect a butcher to make a decent wedding cake.

Young has never ever been a central midfield player.  He is wide left or wing back.

A player who has played on the flanks for over 15 years suddenly asked to play the most demanding role, in the middle of the park at his age is poor management by Smith.

Keeping Elmo for another year would have been more effective.

Piss poor, but a crap lily-livered decision to bring him on.

Options were limited....but bringing in Young into a midfield three was a terrible decision.

He was clearly scared to bring one of the youngsters in so early but even allowing for that it was a poor decision.
