I am underwhelmed purely on the basis of his age.

How many teams ever have had a 28 year old as their oldest player, as we did until Young signed?

They can't all be 24 years old.

Welcome home ashley

Watching his interview he looks absolutely chuffed. I loved the part of the interview when he said on hearing of villas interest he said " i told my agent just get it done"

He is thrilled  to be back and i am thrilled he is back

Smart signing.
Guilbert and Kesler much smarter cover, Konsa can play right back and Hause can play left back so plenty of cover. Youngs wages would be better spent elsewhere. I also dont forget his 'contact' with Cieran Clark to win a penalty for utd😡

I do. I dont forget his crosses at the Sty for Gabby or his countless goals.

Exactly. There are a few stages to go through yet before we're at the stage that Man City are where they have two world stars for every position. I'm happy that we're improving the squad all the time. Up until now, if anything had happened to Targett we'd have had to bring in Neil Taylor. Now we have someone who has just won a Serie A title as back up. That's a huge improvement, and gives us a year to see which of the kids might be ready for the step up. I like a good moan, but I really can't see anything other than positives in this at all.

Well, that’s that, then. Targett must be off to Man City.

Blimey, hello stranger!  Weirdly the kids were only talking about you last night!

Very impressed with his interview and doesn't seem to have the "one last payday" attitude.  Feel happier about this than I did a couple of days ago.

Ten years ago today, we appointed TSM.  A week later? Young left for Manure.  Final closure on a dismal chapter in our history.

I’m okay with it

I was never a massive fan of Elmo, I respected his service but always felt he weakened side when he came on
I know people loved him on here but I was never one of them

I actually think Ashley Young at 35/36 is probably still a better footballer than Elmo was in his prime
And certainly offers more in the final third

He covers so many options I think it’s a sensible signing

1-0 up in the last 10 mins of the Cup Final, i’d prefer to bring Young on rather than a kid or Neil Taylor…

This, that and the other.

We have a very experienced and very professional winner in the dressing room to help the youngest squad in the league. It's smart squad management.

Clearly still fit enough to compete as well.  You don't play regularly for Conte without being fit enough.

Scary to think he's a year younger than Agbonlahor, yet has looked after his body, as opposed to abusing it

It's not a signing I thought we should have gone for, thought he was passed his best, when he last played for United 2 years ago, but hopefully he will prove me wrong. Welcome back Ashley.
