Could well be an astute signing, an experienced pro and still has quality. Welcome back Ash

Imagine if this was the season he won that long overdue cup with us. The absolute scenes.

Welcome back! https://twitter.com/youngy18/status/1405588200920432641

Gotta love his Twitter background. He reset that nice and quickly.

Always thinking on his feet if not staying on them.

Very good signing. Cover for both full backs, and can still play attacking.  Great experience. 12 month deal. Absolute no brainer.

Chuffed with this. Still a marvellous player and need a bit of experience with Elmo and Taylor gone.

Blimey it’s weird to decide you can’t stand a player for one incident with Manure, rather than remember all the brilliance for us.

I was about to post this very thing!
I don't get it.
He gave us years of great service and then he goes and plays for someone who won trophies.
I don't see the problem.
Welcome back Ash.

Clearly this isn’t our normal type of signing anymore. So for us to do this, the powers that be must feel he'll be worth it for what he will bring to the team and squad as a whole.

Spoke well in his interview, but 36 next month, blimey!

A bit like JT, some of that winning mentality.

This isn’t the Villa of old. If it was, we’d have given him a four year deal.

This seems very much out of kilter with the recruitment policy and approach the club were taking. Not saying that there shouldn’t be room for changing things up, but this one I don’t think should break that trend. At this stage in his career, Young will be exactly the sort of player opposition will target, particularly with what Smith gets his wide players to do. Plus, hasn’t he been playing at wing back for Inter, not full back?? If it’s his experience that’s of value, then give him a coaching role. I’d much rather start getting the young players involved/developed.

I’m quite excited about this, I may be living in the past but he is still a decent player and his experience will be of great value.

You don’t win a Serie A title at 35 without being a good professional and looking after yourself, so just for that he is a good buy.

Need to Get Carew out of retirement now to get on the end of his crosses!

My only reservation is the old adage about “never going back”, and I’m old enough to remember Steve Staunton’s second spell with us. However I doubt he’s going to be first choice, and it seems he’s still got a couple of seasons in him. Welcome back AY.

I am underwhelmed purely on the basis of his age. It also doesn't seem to fit in with our transfer strategy.
Although if we have ignored our transfer strategy to sign Young it would suggest Dean Smith was particularly keen to get him. So for that that reason I hope my concerns about his age are not proven correct.
