To say I’m angry and disappointed is an understatement. Yes he was good for us years ago and is experienced now but I thought it was a joke when we were reported as interested

Smart signing. I read it as having swapped Taylor for Young and added some experience and winning mentality.

Quality signing. We already have one of the best teams, but not one of the best squads. This helps rectify this and will be an inspiration to our younger players. Literally no downside.

I'm not unhappy with this signing. A model pro, hence his longevity (just helped Inter to win the Serie A title at a canter having made a significant number of appearances during the season as a starter and from the bench - 23 in total I believe), and will bring much-needed experience and influence to a squad that has just lost the older heads of Elmo, Neil Taylor and Tom Heaton.  I can't really think of any downsides in all honesty - he's not going to be a starter but is a decent backup to have available.

Only a one year contract too, so none of that brainless shovelling millions upon millions into the pockets of has-beens for sitting on the bench for years.

Amend the thread title, he's home alright.

Edit: that was fast.

And… he can take free kicks too from what I remember.

Responsible for one of the most incredible moments I’ve ever had as a Villa fan - that last minute winner v Everton when they’d scored a last minute equaliser.

That was an incredible goal. I remember phoning 606 after the match to rave about it whilst quite drunk.

He's the same age as me but how the fuck does he still look so young?
