Our oldest player by 7 years. The next one being 28. I think that demonstrates the absolute lack of an older head, when we have 1 bugger over 30.

It’s a sensible signing as it works for our squad, right now. Young coming on with 10mins to go in a game would be fine.

I don't think there should be any fuss surrounding this one.

I would prefer Young to Elmo, Guilbert, Taylor, etc. in the case that Cash/Targett were unavailable. He knows his way around the grounds and would be a unique influence on our youth and newcomers.

Sign em up!

Would have preferred as well As not instead I’d Elmo
. He is 4 years older which is why I don’t understand Elmo being released . Not to say I’m a little pleased with the business tho

Love Elmo and appreciate he’s a different type of player, but he’s never been at Young’s level.

Don’t forget we have 5 league and fa cup games for when we get to the final of those. We’re going to need a squad

I really cannot see the point in it to be honest. 35 and surely not going to play much. Backwards step.

Young and Morley are the best wingers I’ve seen at VP in 50 years of supporting the club. Welcome back Ash

Elmo and Trez replaced by Young ? That’ll do!

We detested terry before he moved here and we all really respect him for what he has done here.

No. No, we don't.

Happy with Young though.

SE, very interested in your reply - What is your view then on John Terry whilst he has been at Villa ? I can see his influence on our defence and for that I value his input.

Never saw Walters play for us but Young was far more consistent than Daley. He's one of the best players we've had since I started watching in 1988.

I agree. Both were much better ball manipulators.

If young is signed on a one year contract then it shouldn't really go wrong, and could work out really well; unless, that is, it leads directly or indirectly to the departure of Guilbert, which I think would be very bad.

I don't think Smith rates Guilbert, unfortunately. Young covers left back much more often than right back, though.
