I'd be happy if we gave him another year, providing he was happy to drop down the pecking order a bit.  He's barely put a foot wrong, fitness is incredible.

I'd give him another year. As others have said, he's versatile enough and has enough nous about him that even as a squad player he'll be invaluable.

If England had a tournament this summer I think he'd have a chance of being selected on merit

He’s in our team on merit IMO. Brings a real touch of class to that right-back role in our system.

Totally agree. Shame we had such a busy April as a one game rest he really could have done with.

No surprise (to me) that McGinn and Konsa have improved vastly since he has been in the team and he is doing this largely whilst covering for the ineffective Bailey.

Absolute top pro - great decision to bring him back, just should never have been played in midfield.

I think a right back will be on our list of targets so that could mean one of Young or Cash leave. I wouldn't be surprised if we bought Kyle Walker-Pieters. Also been linked with Dumfries who would be a bit of a coup saying he plays for a Champions League finalist.

I like Kyle Walker-Peters. Loyal stalwart for me in both my Catania and Leyton Orient Football Manager games.

At the end of the game AY seemed to linger a little longer than the other players, reading some thing into it  which isn’t there or was that a goodbye?

I'd keep Young, if we're to win the ECL then we're going to need another 5 players in this squad.

I noticed this too, but he’s not sure yet if he will be here as they’re only now going to work on a possible deal. So, think he was making sure he said good bye just in case.

I think if we want him, he stays. He’s not going to go anywhere and play every game unless he drops down significantly. I think he would enjoy being part of this journey and contributing both on and off the pitch.

I hope he gets another year, but also that he doesn’t play very much, if that makes sense.

In a perfect scenario it’s the year that sees a better RB than Cash arrive. Cash is back up RB. Ash is the versatile old head on the bench who can fill in for a few roles but ultimately provides leadership and transitions from player to coach at the club.

Slots into various positions, so a one deal would be a good idea with extra games next season.

I’d have kept him anyway but with a European campaign too now, he’s exactly the sort of person we e need around - mostly because we need depth but also an experienced head will be very useful.

It’s nigh on impossible to look at how he did this season and not extend (I know his age is a factor but even so ….)
