Is there a more bland midfield 3 anywhere in world football than Skipp, Winks, Hjoberg?

Fun fact: if you put 'meh' into Google, it sends you to Harry Winks' Wikipedia page.

Conte already sounds pissed off at being at Spuds.  Be surprised if he doesn't walk at the end of the season.

An absolutely disgraceful penalty decision. Jota initiates the contact.
Of course the ‘big team’ gets the decision.  The corruption continues
.

Corruption is strong but absolutely shocking decision, I agree. Jota lost possession of the ball which was miscontrolled so it was going out of play anyway.

How anyone can look at that and give a penalty is extraordinary.

The going to have a look at the monitor request is becoming a farce.

It does sound like conspiracy theory territory when the word 'corruption' is used and therefore is easy to brush off by those in the media and the game, but feel that it is happening far too often for it to be a coincidence.

I can't say I watch massive amounts of football outside of watching us, but I've seen it happen to us so many times when we've played the so called 'big clubs' and then see it happening in games like today at Palace and the Wolves 'handball' at Manchester City which clearly hit the player on the side.  I'm sure if I watched more games involving those teams, there would be plenty of other examples.

Like today at Palace, any decision that would go against one of those clubs (Liverpool's 2nd which was technically offside) seems to get a cursory glance before being given the OK, yet anything that would go in their favour, gets the whole five minute treatment until they can find a reason to give the decision.

I really don't know if it is unconscious bias or they ref the game the way they think the result will go.  I've long thought that referees know that if they keep the big clubs happy then they get to do the big games, whereas if they rule against them, I suspect there is pressure exerted in certain quarters (suspect Ferguson definitely used to do it) that they don't referee them again so bang goes their chance of the showpiece matches.

Neutrality has gone out of football punditry completely, so pretty much all games featuring Manchester United and Liverpool in particular have a co-commentator and a studio guest who are linked to that club.  Naturally, they make little mention of decisions that benefit those clubs and cause a major fuss if anything goes against them which again puts pressure on officials.

Apologies for the rant, but that game really annoyed me today, especially on the back of our FA Cup game.

It's an example of what I was talking about after our Cup game. That decision today was an 85-15 decision in favour of the defending side, but because they happened to be Palace, and Liverpool happened to be Liverpool, we all know which way the decision went.

It's not Liverpool's fault exactly, and I'm sure in a pub Klopp would expound at length on the importance of neutral refereeing. However, what guys like him don't understand is that behaving like normal managers in their Megaclub roles - i.e. bitching and moaning about decisions that go against them - adds to this already existing pressure to favour the big clubs, pressure that isn't financial but social and cultural, that really in the end the Megaclubs are the only part of the sport that really matters.

If refs are not corrupt they are doing a pretty good job acting as if they are.
