Given that Ipswich are 22nd in the Third Division, maybe the manager is just an idiot? Either way, get him back and send him somewhere he will be used. Don't loan players to Ipswich again.

Bit of an eye opener watching the Barcelona v Bayern match last night, I understood that the former were in a dire financial position but not quite how much as they were well beaten by a Bayern side that barely got out of second gear. Barca seemed to be playing to the strengths of a big stump up front. They have got some cracking teenagers thougth who came on near the end.

Especially as we're still scared of them after 1981. If it had been three points for a win back then we'd still have won the league. The moral victory is undeniably theirs.

I had a minor to-and-fro on a youtube comments section with an Ipswich fan recently (not quite the hellhole that the Guardian's below the line comments area is, but not far off) about 80/81.

He went on about Ipswich beating us three times that season and their European and FA Cup adventures knackering them out, contributing to the collapse of their league form during the run-in. I countered with the fact that it was the final season of 2 points for a win and any subsequent season would have seen us even more comfortable winners. Add that to the number of local derbies we played which is often a leveller, regardless of a team's quality.

Not sure he was having it...but Ipswich don't have the league trophy on their list of honours either. It struck me that it must be how ManUre fans accuse us of whining about 92/93 - Steve Bruce, extra injury time, (legitimate gripes, surely) undefeated against ManYoo in three meetings that season etc. It's how you cope and rationalise it when you're the loser, I guess.

Aside from 'Fergie time' can we also add Leeds chairman Bill Fotherby to the blame list?

Yes, what a mug. Phones up to enquire about Dennis Irwin, like they were ever going to sell him to Leeds, and ends up getting mugged for Cantona. Pillock.

Unless I'm reading your post wrong Eamonn, Ipswich won the first division in season 1961-62.  Apologies if I am.

Own goal gives Ma City a 2 nil lead. Cue polite applause from all 4 sides of the Etihad.

Stats that prove Southgate is a cock, John Stones has played for England 9 times since his last appearance for Man City. Yet there are a number of other very good English CB's who play on a regular basis for their clubs, including our very own Ezri Konsa who never get a look in at the squad let alone starting line up.
