I just want to see us win the FA Cup, thereby completing the set in my lifetime then there's every chance I'll call it a day.  We're fighting a losing battle with these crooked bastards.

The full set? You haven’t seen us win the Leyland DAF yet.

Well we'll win that before long if the FFP police get their way.

We must be the most miserable set of trophy-winning, Champions League-qualified fans in Europe.

Because, so we were told, the rules were put in place to stop clubs spending beyond their means. Man United being billions in debt shows that:

1. The rules do not prevent clubs spending beyond their means.
2. The rules were never actually intended to stop clubs spending beyond their means. They were intended to maintain the status quo.

The rules were introduced when UEFA were run by Michel Platini. The most corrupt UEFA chairman who spent most of his career at the world's most corrupt club.

Why there are still people who believe there was ever any underlying fairness motivating the introduction of these rules is beyond me.

I agree, the rules are there to maintain hierarchy between clubs and curtail teams from moving up (and down). The small premier league every -presents like Fulham and Brighton like it as it stops an incumbent taking their place and the big 6 like it as it stops ambitious teams knocking them off their perches.

If anyone thinks that the rules are there for sustainability of clubs economically then I have a bridge to sell them.

You’re not going to sell many bridges. Everybody knows. They’ve been told hundreds and hundreds of times.

I think we're a bit in danger of overcorrecting from the self-pity of the Villanfluencers here, and a touch close to that knowing and world-weary guy in the pub who responds to anyone showing distress about anything (corruption, genocide etc) with an indulgent smile and a not unsmug 'well, what do you expect?'.

I do know that the world is usually unfair and bad and whatnot. I'm also perfectly allowed to be annoyed about it!

I just want us to act like the 16th most valuable club in the world, with the 14th highest revenue, and virtually no debt to service. I want us to scout, acquire and coach 25 of the best footballers in the world to play good football, which is all anybody else can do. I don’t want to spend time saying it’s impossible, and it’s not fair, and never contemplating possible solutions to financial barriers. Anybody is free to keep thinking that, but thankfully it appears that our owners don’t think that way, and I’m with them.

I have lived through eras of Liverpool dominance, then an era when Man Utd & Arsenal made the PL look like the SPL, then being told by all and sundry that the top 4 was permanent and eternal. Now it’s apparently impossible to challenge the big 6 even when we’ve finished fourth and won a European trophy. We only need it to be the big 7 and we can start adding our weight to pulling up the drawbridge ourselves.

I endorse this mesaage.

Yeh. I’m happy with the team, the manager, and more success than I’ve experienced before. Increasingly fucked off with how football is run, one straw at a time. Sometimes bales of straw at a time.
