When Utd eventually build their new stadium, they will increase amount of events, but they will still be behind Spurs as Manchester is less attractive to promoters than London.

I'm not convinced that Spurs' location is that much of a barrier.  In London you have Wembley, Arsenal, Twickenham and the O2, and the Olympic Stadium that are direct competition and prepared to undercut Tottenham.  Harry Syles has just donr something like 14-days straight at Wembley for example.

That's why I think Villa Park can compete.  It doesn't need to be better, just the best within a 100-miles so we can host 10-20 events a year.

There is plentiful demand in London that does not exist in the Midlands. Logistically, it's easier for fans to travel to London than it is the events to travel to Brum.

Harry Styles did not play ANY other UK city than London on the Together, Together tour.

Even if we could attract 10-20 events per year (and I'm not sure Villa Park will ever get there), that would still be behind the 30 that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is licensed to hold.

How on earth do you know what his tours are called?

To be fair, it made headlines just yesterday for being the longest residency at Wembley, otherwise I wouldn't have known.

It may well have done, but I didn't fucking read it beyond the headline. I was too busy shaking my head.

It was in the headline of the one I saw! I actually think he has the odd decent track considering pop isn't usually my genre.

His music is shite. That's what sells, whatever. Not my business.

Like this K-Pop stuff. I'd call it shit synthetic pop music, but with Koreans lip-synching instead of white people.

Fuck knows why androgynous Koreans are suddenly attractive. Again, not my business.

But would I be able to name a tour by Harry Styles or BLT? Good lord, no.

I like to do a little bit of research to support my arguments.

Didn't we have G&R last year before the Ozzy gig. And Take That about 10 years before

2 nights I think. And some rapper. The danger is though that if the willydome does get built, they will hoover up a lot of the events. I read somewhere that they are using a lot of the same contacts that built and designed Spurs, plus they have the obvious NFL links. As much as we love Villa Park, it's not going to compete with a purpose built entertainment venue.

What's more concerning is we've essentially traded to cost neutral on transfers for 3 summers now, and are still losing money hand over fist. It all feels pretty bleak, which after winning a trophy and finishing top 4, it shouldn't.

Has there ever been a more middle-aged dad post on here than someone calling Kendrick Lamar "some rapper"?

We had the Bruce the year before - and Foo Fighters?   I think we could easily get more gigs here - just so long as none of them are coldplay

Chris Brown as well. Probably most famous for beating Rhianna up, the prick.

The biggest limitation will be the council. 2-3 a year in the summer is ok but upping that to 15-20 will be tough.

We will get gigs again, our ownership have ramped it up and it's only paused because of the redevelopment. Coventry became the default Midlands stadium venue but I think Birmingham is a more attractive destination as London is to Birmingham and we won't change the latter.

Of course should fantasy take flight and the Flue Camp rise up from the tyre dump then that would be an attractive arena for concerts but what else? Despite Brady rocking up to the Roost a few years ago NFL only seen interested in London for reasons that are more than obvious, perhaps RL may bring their Magic Weekend to the Midlands at some point but other than that there isn't much.

Fast forward 5 years and it will be half a dozen gigs at Villa Park, a downgraded venue in Bordesley Green still in the offing and London still grabbing most of the action.
